In 1998, the University received the Friesen-Rygiel award from the Medical Research Council of Canada in recognition of its efforts to transfer discoveries by its researchers to the private sector.
Université Laval shares the vision of the creators of this prestigious award&emdash;that universities must play a strategic role in promoting technology transfer and forging industrial partnerships.
In fact, Laval was one of the first universities in Canada to include technology transfer in its mission statement.
