Student associations: a great way to take an active part
in university life!

Université Laval has over 200 student associations. More than one hundred of them are faculty or department associations, while the others are para-university associations (support groups, foreign student bodies, or associations based on social, political, or religious lines).

In addition, two general associations represent undergraduate, master's and doctoral students :
  • The Confédération des associations d'étudiants et d'étudiantes de l'Université Laval (CADEUL) represents 25,000 undergraduate students and over 60 department and faculty associations. It is the biggest undergraduate student association in Quebec.

CADEUL defends the rights and interests of the students and takes action on teaching, cultural, economic, political, and social issues, as well as on matters related to university management. Its mission and raison d'être are based on the Declaration of Student Rights.

  • The Association des étudiantes et des étudiants de Laval inscrits aux études supérieures speaks for all graduate students registered in a course or program at Université Laval, representing them with university administration and the Ministère de l'Éducation.

In 1997, ÆLIÉS marked its 30th anniversary, which makes it the oldest graduate student association in Québec. Since it was founded, the Association's mission has been to defend your rights, interests, and ideas.
