The Goals of Crossing Canada

The Lion Jean encourages everybody to live actively. With the project Crossing Canada on a tandem, the Motor Adaptation Foundation (M.A.F.) has given itself some goals. The most important are:

Unique and philanthropic experience of Lion Jean Bouchard, a blind athlete

With this physical activity, Lion Jean Bouchard encourages the elderly and the handicapped persons to live actively. At the same time, he shows people that if you put your heart into it, you can achieve great things. Moreover, by travelling through Canada on a tandem, Lion Jean Bouchard wants to live an adventure that will allow him to surpass himself physically.

Vivid testimony of social integration

In spite of his sensorial limitations, Lion Jean Bouchard demonstrates in his daily life an out of the ordinary willpower and courage. His daily physical training, his personal challenges and his life are a vivid testimony of social integration. With his personal achievements, he gives striking examples by showing that a handicapped person can live actively in society.

Funds raising

For the 21st Rehabilitation International World Congress - 2008, the leaders of the M.A.F. have decided to raise funds that will finance the visit of 100 delegates living with important physical limitations in third world countries.

By passing through sixty Canadian towns and cities, the members of the foundation encourages the local population to live actively so that every citizen improves his quality of life. Moreover, it will request their financial support by explaining to them the importance of talking about rehabilitation and living it one day at a time. In 2010, chronic diseases, functional limitations and aging will affect 20% of the Canadian population. Therefore, it is important to talk about it.
