Lion Jean Bouchard's Sport Achievements


A medal for the Lion Jean Bouchard.October 1st  1977, Lion Jean Bouchard completed his firsts 5 and 10 km runs. Since then, he has participated in more than 200 athletic competitions.


Canadian Championships

From 1978 to 1999
Canadian championships for blind athletes
Participation in 15 championships (Vancouver, Quebec City, etc.)
Events: 100 m., 800 m., 1,500 m., 5,000 m., and 10,000 m.
53 gold and 5 silver medals.

Marathons

The Lion Jean Bouchard ran the 42,2 km distance in many cities world wide (Boston, New York, Washington and Paris). In Canada, he ran marathons in the streets of Montreal, Quebec City, Vancouver and many other towns. Among the thirty marathons that he ran between 1980 and the year 2000, here are a few of them with a short description.

 
1986 National Capital Marathon (Ottawa)
Time: 3h17min 38sec

Time: 3h06min 41sec
* Best performance of life (at 50 years old).
 
1992*   Boston Marathon
Time: 3h19min 39sec
* Bronze medalist in all categories (men) among blind runners.
 


Ultra-Marathons

 
1982 For the Eye Diseases Foundation
Race from Montreal to Quebec City (9 days).
 
1990   For the Louis-Hebert Centre Foundation
Race from Rimouski to Quebec City (20 days).
 


Other races

Besides marathons, Lion Jean Bouchard has done several 10 km races. Sometimes, he ran 15 km and 20 km races, and has also done biathlons and triathlons.
