Study and Internships Abroad

International and Intercultural Internships

Enjoy an extraordinary experience with a for-credit internship in an emerging country, principally in Africa, Asia, or Latin America. Your integration upon arrival in the country in addition to a closely supervised internship will foster your integration into an environment with economic and cultural realities very different from your own.

You must be enrolled in a program that offers international and intercultural internships, meet the necessary language requirements and demonstrate interest in discovering and being actively involved in another culture. Selection is based on academic performance and an interview.

International Profile

With the international profile, study for one or two semesters in one of Université Laval’s 525 partner universities abroad. Your passport to the world, this profile entitles you to a scholarship and to training on the adaptation process, international solidarity and cultural differences.

Canada Exchange Program

The Canada Exchange program is the equivalent of the international profile, but within Canada. You can study at an English-language university in another province and improve your English. Selected students receive pre-departure orientation and a mobility scholarship.

  • You are looking for an internship with an organization or company

All regular undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for this internship program.

Northern Intercultural Internships

The Northern Intercultural Internship is for you if

  • You are looking for financial support to work in the North
  • You are looking for financial support to collect field data in the North for your master's thesis or PhD dissertation
  • You are looking for a way to conduct a project with an intercultural dimension in an aboriginal community

All regular undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for this internship program.

Washington Center Internship Program

The Washington Center internship program offers Québec undergraduate and graduate students in certain programs an opportunity to acquire for-credit academic and professional training in the capital of the United States. The goal is to enhance your knowledge of the country and provide you with a better understanding of how the American political system works.

General Agreements for Exchange Students

Agreements signed by Université Laval professors offer a variety of educational opportunities throughout the world.

Consortium

A consortium is a group of educational institutions from two or three countries that pool their resources to tackle shared issues in training and research. Student exchanges are one of the main activities of consortiums. There are Canada/European Union and Canada/United States/Mexico consortiums.
A consortium is the ideal solution if you wish to continue your education in a consortium member institution.

Joint Thesis Program

The joint thesis program aims to develop international scientific cooperation and promoting doctoral student mobility. PhD students conduct their research under the joint supervision of co-directors in both institutions, as part of an existing collaboration between two professors.
