Types of Exchanges
General Student Exchange Agreements
Unlike exchange agreements between specific programs, general agreements are not restricted to a particular field of study. They allow for exchanges with any Université Laval program that accepts visiting students.
Advantages for students of our partner institutions:
- Students’ home institutions are responsible for selecting participants for UL exchanges. However, admission is not automatic. Applications must first be reviewed by the directors of the programs applied for.
- Partner institutions see to exchange students’ needs and assign an academic advisor to help them transition smoothly into their program.
- The partner institution benefits from a direct agreement with Université Laval
- An intensive, five-week French as a Foreign Language summer immersion program is available for non-francophone students at École de langues de l’Université Laval (ELUL). There is no tuition, but an activity fee applies.
Under this type of exchange, places are limited. Applicants are not guaranteed admission under general agreements with UL that do not specifically apply to a particular program. Applications are assessed by the director of the program the applicant applies to, so it is critical that prospective students indicate their desired program and level of studies carefully to ensure their application is duly processed. Decisions are final and cannot be appealed.
