Arriving at the Québec City and Montréal airports
As soon as you land in Québec, you have access to various welcoming services at airports to facilitate your arrival.
Québec City
Upon arrival at the Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport, you can take the bus to get to Université Laval. The service is offered every 30 minutes from 5am to 11pm. For more information, click here.
We strongly recommend flying into Québec City rather than Montréal—you’ll cut your travel time and save the cost of land transportation between the two cities. For more information on the Québec City airport and airlines that serve it, click here.
Montréal
If you choose to end your flight in Montréal, please note that the bus ride from this airport to Québec city costs around 75$ and takes 4 hours. To get helpful information on travelling toward Québec City by bus or train go to the Bureau de la vie étudiante's Website.
Getting your study permit
To obtain an official study permit, you must go to immigration services in the customs area of the first canadian airport you land into, whether it is your final destination or a stop over, and present your letter of introduction from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
Waiting time at immigration can be anywhere between 1 to 3 hours. You can reduce considerably this time by registering to Accueil Plus in Montréal or landing directly in Québec City. As it is a smaller airport, waiting time is shorter.
