Faculty Cohort on Climate Challenges

Background

Climate challenges transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries and require innovative approaches based on the convergence of expertise. The Faculty Cohort on Climate Challenges will provide a dynamic space for collaboration, creativity, and experimentation.

This initiative is part of the ULaval’s 2023–2028 Strategic Plan and aligned with the objectives of the Climate Ambition Initiative. The projects within this initiative aim to strengthen leadership in ULaval’s various research and teaching fields related to climate action and to enhance the capacity for action amongst members of the academic community.

Description of the Initiative

The initiative aims to bring together up to eight faculty members from various disciplines to foster the exchange of expertise and, by 2026–2027, develop one or more high-level interdisciplinary research projects focused on climate change adaptation or mitigation.

Personalized support will be provided to Cohort members:

  • A team budget of $50,000 for the entire Cohort to support the proposed project(s).
  • Financial support of $10,000 per participant, provided to support research activities.
  • Support and guidance throughout the duration of the Cohort, aimed at facilitating networking and allowing participants to familiarize themselves with each other’s expertise and identifying opportunities for project-related collaborations, while supporting the development of skills related to intersectoral and interdisciplinary collaboration.
