Information shared when you access a Université Laval site

Cookies

When you access a University site, information is transparently shared between your electronic device and University servers.

What are cookies?

Cookies are files that are stored on your device to record your browsing activity on a Web page. Cookies allow the server to recognize your browser, your language and country preferences, etc. Cookies also make it possible to measure site audiences and traffic, as well as provide users with appropriate content and a personalized experience.

Who uses the information collected?

Data collected is the sole property of Université Laval. Under no circumstances does the University disclose, share, or market this data to third parties. 

The University uses this data for statistical and promotional purposes to improve the user experience on its website and to support its recruitment efforts. 

How to disable cookies?
Because we respect your right to privacy, you can choose to disable certain types of cookies, with the exception of strictly necessary cookies and performance cookies. You can disable other types of cookies by clicking on “Manage preferences” on the cookie consent form.

Collection and use of information on some sites 

You must provide personal information when you perform certain actions on this site, including:

  • Registering for an educational event or activity
  • Purchasing or requesting a product or service
  • Subscribing to a newsletter
  • Requesting Information 

Your UL identifier (IDUL) may be required to access certain University sites. It is used solely to allow you to access Web pages reserved for members of the University community. Your IDUL will not be used for any other purpose.

Information on consent

When you complete a form on a University website, you consent to the use of the information you provide for the purposes of the requested service and to the retention of the information for the time necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was requested.

In addition, when you use a credit card to pay for a transaction or make a donation through this site, no information relating to your credit card is collected by Université Laval or its servers. Your transaction is processed and administered by the banking solutions of a third party provider, directly on its secure site.

The University undertakes to use the information provided solely for the purpose for which it was collected and to keep it for as long as necessary to provide the requested service.

Does this consent apply to all Université Laval sites?

The consent notice posted on this site applies to this site only. As Université Laval cannot guarantee the confidentiality of data on all sites with a ulaval.ca domain name, we encourage you to visit each site’s privacy page to understand how the information is collected and used.

Access to personal information

University personnel

Only authorized personnel can access your information. The University ensures that these individuals have the authority to access this information and that the access is required in the performance of their duties.

Request access to your personal information

Université Laval is subject to the provisions of the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information (RLRQ, c. A-2.1). Therefore, anyone requesting access to university documents is able to obtain it. We invite you to learn more about submitting a request for access to your personal information (in French) to the Secretary General’s Office.

Retention and disposal of information
