It’s important to find suitable housing, no matter how long you plan to stay at Université Laval. Due to the current housing shortage in Québec, finding affordable housing that meets your needs can take a long time.
We therefore recommend that you consider all your options as soon as you receive your offer of admission.

On-campus housing
The Service des résidences has 2,300 rooms spread across four dormitories, one of which is reserved for women. The other three residences are mixed-gender, and the rooms are located on either single-sex or mixed-gender floors. Rooms are reserved for full-time students.
As spaces in the residences are limited, we strongly recommend that you apply to reserve a room as soon as you receive confirmation of your place at Université Laval, or as soon as your immigration documents are approved if you are an international student.
You may be placed on a waiting list. If you arrive in Québec City without having secured a room in the residences, you will need to arrange temporary or off-campus housing.

The residences offer rooms called “suites” that are accessible to students with limited mobility at the same rate as regular rooms.

Short-term sublease
Subletting apartments and rooms for a short stay is also an option for your first few days in the city.

If possible, ask friends or family members if you can stay with them temporarily. Otherwise, some student organizations can help their members find housing. There are also services that can help you find housing. Have a look at the free assistance offered by the OMHQ or the paid assistance offered by Reloc Québec.
Home insurance
Whether you live in a house or an apartment, it is highly recommended that you purchase home insurance. As well as covering your personal property and your home, a home insurance policy generally covers your civil liability—that is, any damage you might cause to others or their property.
