Grocery stores and supermarkets
The cost of groceries varies from one grocery store to another. Some stores opt for a more polished presentation and offer products at higher prices, while those with a more modest appearance are known for their low prices. Some supermarkets offer coupons, while others have customer loyalty programs. Check with your retailer.
Near the campus, you’ll find grocery stores and supermarkets from the largest food chains: Maxi, Metro, Avril, IGA, Super C, and Walmart. Some of these grocery stores also offer the option to shop online.
Grocery stores specializing in imported goods
There are many specialty grocery stores near the campus. They sell products from Latin America, the Mediterranean, Asia, and all over the world. A quick web search will point you to the perfect place to find the products you’re looking for.
Dépanneurs (convenience stores)
The term “dépanneur” is used in Québec to refer to a convenience store that stays open late and sells essential items, alcohol and tobacco products, and more. Many dépanneurs are a part of gas stations. Couche-Tard, Proxi, and Petro-Canada are examples of dépanneur chains.
Purchasing alcoholic beverages
The SAQ sells spirits, wine, beer, and specialty alcoholic beverages. You’ll also find beer, a limited selection of wine, and some alcoholic beverages at supermarkets, grocery stores, and dépanneurs.

Alternatively, you can bring your own meal and enjoy one of the designated picnic areas. Most cafeterias have microwave ovens.
