Emmanuelle Careau
Emmanuelle Careau is a full professor at the School of Rehabilitation Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Université Laval. With initial training in occupational therapy and a PhD in experimental medicine (Université Laval), she also completed postdoctoral studies focused on the evaluation of complex interprofessional systems (University of British Columbia).
In 2013, Ms. Careau was appointed Scientific Director of the Réseau de collaboration sur les pratiques interprofessionnelles (RCPI – Interprofessional Practice Collaboration Network) and Quebec's representative on the Canadian Interprofessional Health Leadership Collaborative. For several years, she made significant contributions to research on interprofessional education and collaborative practices as a junior research fellow with the Fonds de recherche du Québec. From 2017 to 2022, she held the position of Vice Dean of Social Accountability at the Faculty of Medicine at Université Laval, then the position of Vice Dean of Social Accountability, Pedagogy, and Professional Development from 2022 to 2024. During this period, she distinguished herself by coordinating major initiatives in civic engagement, partnerships with Indigenous communities, global health, strategic planning, and the faculty's matrix reorganization.
Since December 2024, she has been Deputy Vice Rector for International Affairs, Sustainable Development, and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion on the management team of Université Laval. Passionate and visionary, Emmanuelle Careau combines academic rigor, leadership, and commitment to advocate for more accessible, inclusive, and socially responsible universities.
