Biology is central to the main problems that society will have to resolve now and in the future: climate change, biodiversity conservation, natural resource management, biotechnology development , and more. You will be trained to conduct cutting-edge research using a multidisciplinary approach to help meet these many challenges.
Applicants must have a master’s degree in biology, or an equivalent degree.
Applicants who hold a master’s degree in a related field may be eligible. However, the admission is not automatic and the program director may require students to do qualifying coursework depending on their previous training.
Applicants must have a grade point average of at least 3.2 out of 4.33 or the equivalent as recognized by Université Laval.
Applicants with a slightly lower grade point can still submit their application. However, the admission is not automatic.
The language of instruction at Université Laval is French. Hence, a good knowledge of written and spoken French is highly recommended.
Although knowledge of French or English is not a prerequisite for admission, students must be able to read and understand texts in French or in English to successfully complete this program. Students who are not proficient enough in these languages may have difficulty in their studies. Students must ensure that they have a good understanding of French or English and, if necessary, take steps to improve their language skills during their studies (for example at Université Laval’s language school). In the event of significant deficiencies, program direction can impose corrective measures.
