You will be able to conduct programs in applied research and industrial process development and improvement. You will also be able to conduct original independent research.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must have a master’s degree in mining engineering, or an equivalent degree.

Applicants who hold a master’s degree in a related field may be eligible. The program director may require applicants who do not hold a master's degree in mining sciences to do qualifying coursework, depending on their previous education and research interests.

Applicants must have a grade point average of at least 3.00 out of 4.33 or the equivalent.

French and English proficiency

The language of instruction at Université Laval is French. Hence, a good knowledge of written and spoken French is highly recommended.

Although knowledge of French or English is not a prerequisite for admission, students must be able to read and understand texts in French or in English to successfully complete this program. Students who are not proficient enough in these languages may have difficulty in their studies. Students must ensure that they have a good understanding of French or English and, if necessary, take steps to improve their language skills during their studies (for example at Université Laval’s School of Languages). In the event of significant deficiencies, program direction can impose corrective measures.
