Sample pathways by program

We’ve created a series of sample pathways based on a student’s level of French on admission to give you an idea of the courses you’ll need to take to earn your degree, including French as a second language classes and qualifying coursework. These are provided as examples only. If you study at Université Laval, the pathway you follow will be tailored to your profile and may differ from those shown here.

  • If you have recent results for the Test de connaissance du français (TCF), view the pathway corresponding to your test score for the program that interests you.
  • If you don’t have a TCF test score yet and consider yourself to have little or no knowledge of French, see pathways 1 and 2.
  • Each sample pathway corresponds to a level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1). If you already study French at school, you can refer to these levels.
  • If you need help in determining your level of French and viewing the sample pathways, write to us at  tests-langues@elul.ulaval.ca.
