Promoting health at the community level
Health is a universal priority, influenced by economic, political, and social forces. Understanding these dynamics is essential for making informed decisions that benefit communities.
Interdisciplinarity as a driver of adaptability and insight
The Master’s in Public Health is based on an interdisciplinary and applied approach designed to train professionals capable of addressing and resolving complex problems through their own expertise, a systems-based approach, and a critical analysis of contemporary health issues.
Anchored in two faculties (Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Nursing), the program welcomes diverse backgrounds, including students from the life sciences and social sciences. Exposed to a variety of contexts, the student cohorts approach health through the study of major societal issues including health inequities, climate change, and the inclusion of marginalized populations.
The courses, taught by experts from multiple disciplines, provide students with a wealth of complementary knowledge, giving them the valuable flexibility to anticipate the impacts of interventions at different levels and reduce blind spots in the analysis of health issues.
Turning knowledge into sustainable solutions through collaboration
The program fosters critical thinking, leadership, social responsibility, and collaborative skills, while providing opportunities to apply these concepts through real-world case studies. In an integrative course, students work in teams to solve a complex problem presented by an external partner. They draw on their disciplinary expertise within an interdisciplinary framework to better understand a particular phenomenon and propose sustainable solutions tailored to the specific contexts of each social reality. The knowledge acquired is also applied in an internship or research project, depending on the chosen track, as well as through meetings and exchanges with political, social and economic stakeholders.
Graduates ready to work for the public good
Upon completing their studies, graduates can enter the healthcare system, the community sector, the fields of teaching and research, as well as international organizations and private companies. They are equipped to innovate and strengthen communities’ ability to adapt to public health challenges, as well as to improve population health and health equity.
