Settling in to student life
During your time at Université Laval, the Student Life Office (BVE) is here to share information, refer you to resources, and help you navigate coming to Québec, settling in, and taking part in student life.
Here are the main orientation services and activities available at the start of the fall and winter semesters.
Mandatory orientation and information sessions
At the start of the fall and winter semesters, new students at Université Laval must attend a half-day orientation.
Orientation activities
- Select an activity from the calendar to read a description and register.
- Add a ticket to your cart, then click “Proceed to Checkout.”
- Fill out the form using your Université Laval (@ulaval.ca) email address. A confirmation email with instructions for the session will be sent to that address.
- Repeat for each activity.
You will need to activate your Université Laval Zoom account to attend virtual sessions. If you need help, please contact your faculty’s IT service centre.

August 30: 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM
We will also be available at the international student booth during the Rentrée ULaval events from 9 AM to 4 PM on August 31 and September 1.
Student buddy program
The student buddy program is a rewarding intercultural experience for both new and current students.
How are things?
Studying in another country is a big challenge for many reasons: linguistically, culturally, socially, academically, and more! The “How are things?” questionnaire helps us understand how you are adjusting and lets us refer you to the right resources if necessary.
Student associations and campus life
Student associations are a vital part of campus life, and everyone in the student community can join or take advantage of their services! Find one for your faculty, department, or program and explore the wide array of extracurricular associations—there are groups for all kinds of interests, nationalities, and religious and spiritual beliefs.
