Unprecedented mobilization of union partners

We are proud to be able to count on the unprecedented mobilization of our union partners. Collaborative agreements have just been concluded with the Syndicat des employés et employées de l'Université Laval (SEUL) and the Association du personnel administratif professionnel de l'Université Laval (APAPUL).

This exemplary collaboration is decisive in allowing students to complete their semester and in maintaining essential and priority services on campus. In compliance with public health guidelines, several people play key roles in maintaining teaching pedagogy, campus security, residence services, infrastructure management, continuity of administrative services, study management, payroll, communications and information technology.

These staff members have varied and indispensable roles in maintaining our operations and enabling the transmission of knowledge. We thank them for their flexibility. From near and far, we can feel their energy and we thank them for it.

The majority of our abroad students are back

The vast majority of the students who were abroad are back home. Out of 394 international students, 281 have returned or are about to return home. We warmly thank the International Office team who have been working tirelessly since last week to ensure their safety and to accompany them in their repatriation process.

The Data Development Centre involved

The VALERIA technology infrastructure supported by our Data Valorisation Centre is doing its part to help global research on COVID-19. Université Laval has volunteered to provide computing power to the Folding@home project at Stanford University. Our expertise in data collection, processing and storage will be put to good use.

To our students

We would like to remind you that the Premier of Quebec is asking for the collaboration of all citizens in order to follow the recommendations of the Direction de la santé publique. We strongly encourage our students to show responsibility and respect by avoiding all types of gatherings, parties or meetings in the coming days. Social distancing is the responsibility of all of us.

Rector Sophie D'Amours update

The rector of Université Laval, Sophie D'Amours, spoke to the media and the entire university community to thank all the staff and to provide an update on the measures deployed over the past week. We invite you to watch the press briefing.
