Students with dual Canadian/French citizenship are not eligible for the exemptions from differential tuition fees under the student mobility agreement Entente entre le Gouvernement du Québec et le Gouvernement de la République Française en matière de mobilité étudiante au niveau universitaire international. They will pay the same tuition as Canadian residents from outside Québec.

Under the student mobility agreement, Entente entre le Gouvernement du Québec et le Gouvernement de la République Française en matière de mobilité étudiante au niveau universitaire (PDF), signed by the governments of Québec and France on March 6, 2015, French students who meet the eligibility requirements are subject to the following tuition fees:

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible to pay the same tuition as Québec residents or Canadian residents from outside Québec, French students must:

  • Hold a valid French passport
  • Hold a study permit in accordance with Canadian immigration legislation and regulations and a Québec acceptance certificate (CAQ)
  • If applicable, hold proof that they have been permanent residents of Saint Pierre and Miquelon for more than 5 years and be enrolled in a program of study leading to an undergraduate degree or diploma

Important: If you do not intend to come to Canada, you cannot benefit from this agreement.

French students enrolled in a graduate degree or diploma program offered by a Québec university pay the same tuition as Québec residents.
