Students with dual Canadian/Belgian citizenship are not eligible for the exemption from differential tuition fees under the Entente entre le Gouvernement du Québec et le Gouvernement de la Communauté française de Belgique. They will pay the same tuition as Canadian residents from outside Québec.
Under the Entente entre le Gouvernement du Québec et le Gouvernement de la Communauté française de Belgique, signed by the Government of Québec and the French Community of Belgium on April 11, 2018, francophone Belgian students who meet the eligibility requirements are subject to the following tuition fees:
Eligibility requirements
To be eligible to pay the same tuition and fees applicable to Québec residents or Canadian residents from outside Québec, francophone Belgian students must:
- hold a valid Belgian passport
- hold a national ID card identifying them as francophone Belgians or
- hold a certificate of upper secondary education (CESS) or a bachelor’s or master’s degree from a compulsory or higher education institution organized or subsidized by the French Community of Belgium
- hold a study permit in accordance with Canadian immigration legislation and regulations and a Québec acceptance certificate (CAQ)
Important: If you do not intend to come to Canada, you cannot benefit from this agreement.
Undergraduate programs:
Francophone Belgian students enrolled in an undergraduate degree or diploma program offered by a Québec university pay the same tuition and fees as Canadian residents from outside Québec.
Graduate programs:
Francophone Belgian students enrolled in a graduate degree or diploma program offered by a Québec university pay the same tuition and fees as Québec residents.
