Financing studies by profile
There are many options for financing your studies. Admission scholarships, tuition fee exemption scholarships, scholarships for current students, government programs, and more are available to you, depending on your background.
Government loans and bursaries
The Québec government’s loans and bursaries program allows students with insufficient financial resources to pursue full- or part-time studies. To be eligible, you must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident and be considered a resident of Québec.

Support services – Financial difficulties
If you are struggling to meet your basic needs or are relying too heavily on credit, or if you are working so much it is affecting your health and studies, the team at the Student Awards and Financial Aid Office can help.
Our personalized, confidential service is designed to support you in finding short- and medium-term solutions. Select the “Support – financial difficulties” option on the form.
Temporary financial support program
Following a support meeting, eligible students may receive a one-time payment intended to cover approximately two months’ worth of rent and groceries. This financial support is made possible by the generosity of several donors.
Eligibility criteria
- Must have completed and paid the tuition fees for one semester at Université Laval
- Must no longer be able to meet basic needs
- Must currently be experiencing financial difficulties
- Must have a budget deficit
- Must longer be able to cut expenses or increase income any further
- Must have studies jeopardized
- Must have a realistic study plan
- Must have no other feasible solution to remedy your financial situation
