Scholarship programs are available to students at all levels of study throughout their time at Université Laval.

Only Université Laval is authorized to award scholarships to international applicants. No external organization or foundation is authorized to offer scholarships to students on behalf of Université Laval.

Supplemental tuition fee exemption scholarships and programs

Scholarships and exemption programs may allow you to pay the same tuition fees as students from Québec.

Bachelor’s and master’s: Offered to a limited number of international students.
Doctorate: Offered to all international students enrolled in a doctoral program.

Citizens of the World scholarships

$20,000 and $30,000

The Citizens of the World scholarship program has two components for international students enrolling in a research master’s degree or doctorate:

The Excellence component recognizes academic achievement.
The Commitment component supports students who demonstrate exceptional leadership and involvement.

These scholarships support students at every stage of their graduate studies.

Research scholarships

Merit scholarships – Bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs

Up to $35,000 per year

The Québec government offers merit scholarships to international students for short research or professional development visits. These scholarships include a supplemental foreign tuition fee exemption and health insurance coverage.

Research projects with funding available – Graduate programs

Salaries or scholarships paid for research purposes

The Research Projects and Expertise platform publishes a list of projects for which the research supervisor is offering financial support to students.

Graduate scholarships from granting agencies – Graduate programs

There are several merit scholarship programs available to current and future graduate students.

Master’s: $20,000 per year
Doctorate: $25,000 to $40,000 per year
