The Excellence and Commitment components of Université Laval’s Citizens of the World scholarships aim to attract the world’s top talent by awarding international recruitment scholarships and nurturing the leaders of tomorrow.

Excellence component (research-based master’s and doctorate)
The Citizens of the World Excellence component is intended for international students who have submitted a new application for admission to a research-based program at Université Laval. This scholarship recognizes academic excellence.

Master’s degrees with thesis and doctorates
Value
- Value of $20,000
This scholarship does not cover all the costs associated with studying in Québec City for one year (which include tuition fees and living expenses). Visit the Fees and Budgeting page for more information.

Commitment component (research-based master’s and doctorate)
The Citizens of the World Commitment component is intended for international students who have submitted a new application for admission to a research-based program at Université Laval.
This scholarship supports talented students who stand out for their exceptional commitment in various fields and serve as inspiring role models for community members throughout their university studies.

Master’s degrees with thesis and doctorates
Value
- Master’s degrees with thesis: Total value of $20,000 ($5,000 per semester, up to 4 semesters)
- Doctorates: Total value of $30,000 ($5,000 per semester, up to 6 semesters)

How to apply
Applications for 2027 will open in November.
Results
Recipients are usually announced in early March. If you are awarded a scholarship, you will need to have officially received a conditional or definitive offer of admission from Université Laval by that point. Scholarships will not be given to applicants on the waiting list.
If you are awarded a scholarship, you will have 15 days to:
- Accept your offer of admission from Université Laval
- Pay the tuition fee deposit
- Accept the scholarship offer
After this deadline, the scholarship offer will be automatically withdrawn.
